Give your season a kickstart these school holidays with two age-appropriate options designed to build skills, confidence, and smart race habits.
DEVELOPMENT ATHLETES
(Ages 12–14)
Session: Swim + Run
Date: Thu 25th Sept
Time: 8:30–11:00am (please arrive by 8:15am)
Location: MSAC
What we’ll cover:
• Swim technique: Open-water race skills (in pool setting): drafting, buoy turns, navigating traffic
• Run fundamentals
• Transition basics (T1/T2 concepts): simple routines and quick shoe changes
Approx. outline:
8:30–9:30 Swimming
9:30–10:00 Change + snack/hydrate
10:00–10:50 Running / Swim-Run Transition
10:50–11:00 Warm-down and next steps
Gear required:
• Swimsuit, goggles, swim cap, towel
• Running shoes and socks (suitable for light intervals)
• Water bottle and light snack
• Hat/sunscreen, warm layer for after the session
Suitability:
• Comfortable swimming 25m continuously (freestyle) and jogging 10–15 minutes with rests
• Newer athletes welcome—coaches will group by experience.
PERFORMANCE ATHLETES
(Ages 15–20)
Two-morning camp focused on race-ready bike skills, planning, and efficient running.
Day 1 — Bike Skills + Goal Setting
Date: Fri 3rd Oct
Time: 8:30am–12:30pm (arrive by 8:15am)
Location: Packer Park
Focus areas:
• Draft-legal racecraft: group etiquette, smooth drafting, braking, gear selection, mounts/dismounts, rolling turns, positioning into/out of corners
• Handling confidence: clipping in/out under pressure, obstacle awareness, emergency stops
• Season planning: short goal-setting workshop—A/B races, training focus, process goals, simple tracking tools
Approx. outline:
8:30–11:00 Bike skills and race scenarios / Draft-legal simulations (short efforts)
11:00–11:30 Break + refuel
11:30–12:30 Goal-setting session and take-home plan
Gear required (Day 1):
• Road bike with drop bars (no TT bikes; remove clip-ons), in safe, serviced condition
• Helmet
• Cycling kit, shoes/pedals you normally use
• Spare tube, tyre levers, mini-pump/CO₂, drink bottles, ride nutrition
• Sunglasses
Day 2 — Long Run + Running Shoe Selection
Date: Sat 4 Oct
Time: 8:30–11:00am (arrive by 8:15am)
Location: The Running Company — Mentone
Focus areas:
• Long aerobic run
• Footwear session with The Running Company: gait and foot-shape considerations, terrain/use cases, rotation strategy and care—choose the best shoe for your mechanics

8:30–9:30 Long run
9:30–9:45 Break / snack
9:45–11:00 In-store footwear education and individual fitting guidance
Gear required (Day 2):
• Comfortable running shoes & socks
• Water bottle; light snack
• Hat/sunscreen; post-run warm layer
General information:
• Safety: sessions modified for heat or wet weather; bike skills conducted on velodrome
• Meet point: arrive 15 minutes early for preparation and briefing
• Parents/guardians: welcome to observe
